Sustainability Journey
Organisations are often in different places in their Sustainability journey. We work positively with you to progress and leverage Sustainability by either building upon your existing initiatives, or helping you get started.
At the FMCG Sustainability Institute, we find a helpful way to look at your Sustainability journey is ‘getting ready’ and ‘moving forward’.
‘Getting ready’ involves determining your rationale for becoming more Sustainable. Why? What benefits do you hope to achieve?
The next step, ‘Understanding’, involves developing your business case for Sustainability, including understanding the key principles of sustainability as well as the specific issues and concerns surrounding your organisation.
‘Where are you at now’ involves reviewing your current situation in relation to Sustainability; identifying market gaps and opportunities for competitive advantage, SWOT analysis and assessments of ecological footprint / lifecycle, energy, water and waste.
With the sustainability base-line established, your organisation is ready to ‘Move Forward’ by developing and articulating its sustainability strategy – the ‘Where to?” part. This needs to be integrated with your existing business strategy.
‘How to get there’ involves a pragmatic, achievable action plan to implement the strategy, along with building the capacity and resources the organisation needs to maintain momentum.
‘Measuring progress’ is about using globally recognised reporting and assurance measures to track and communicate your success in credible ways. Read more about this on our Measures page.
At every step along the journey, the FMCG Sustainability Institute has a breadth of best practice knowledge, tools and skills to bring about success, in close partnership with you.
